Take That Say Robbie & The Boys As They Melt Cable And Wireless
Take That fans were left tearing out their hair today as they went online to buy tickets for the bands tour next May, June and July. Such was the demand to see the supergroup perform in their original line up for the first time in 16 years following Robbie Williams decision to rejoin the band.
The unprecedented demand at 9am this morning experienced by Cable and Wireless telecoms crashed their phone network and shut down Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours, Ticketwire and Ticket Factory’s websites. As well as frantic fans suffering the frustration of not being able to get tickets substantial numbers of businesses and individuals have been left without their phone services with the resultant business losses estimated to run into millions.
Police have warned desperate Take That devotees to beware of unofficial sales sites as that expect criminal elements to take advantage of the disaster and offer desperate fans non-existent tickets through professional looking websites at inflated prices. Already tickets are appearing on E-Bay and similar auction sites at prices akin to several times the face value and it is thought likely that a number are scams by criminal gangs to steal money from fans going to any lengths to secure their seats.
Meanwhile telecoms and internet service providers engineering staff are fighting a desperate battle to restore service to their clients.
