Tony Curtis – A Hollywood Legend Dies
Tony Curtis has died of a Heart Attack in Nevada Home
The 85 year old star of Films such as Some like it Hot where he Co-Stared with Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemon, The Defiant Ones for which he received an Oscar Nomination, Houdini, Trapeze, Spartacus, The Boston Strangler and The Vikings died peacefully in his sleep according to family members.
Curtis, born Bernard Schwartz son of Easter European émigrés on June 3rd 1925 and didn’t speak any English until the age of 4 acted in over 120 films but did not always feel appreciated by Hollywood. He stumbled into a life of drug and alcohol abuse but to his great credit pulled himself together in the early 1980’s and went on to carve out a new career as an artist, some of his canvasses went for many thousands of dollars.
At one stage of his long and varied career in the 1970’s he left the USA moving to Great Britain where he stared alongside Roger Moore in a racy TV series called The Persuaders.
Jamie Lee Curtis his actress daughter from the first of his 6 marriages has accorded her father this tribute saying he “leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings”.
“He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world,” she added.

Tony Curtis was married to actress Janet Leigh, with whom he had actress daughter Jamie Lee Curtis
Sir Roger has also paid tribute to his former colleague, calling him “a fine actor”.
“We had a lot of laughs together for about 15 months, working together every day. He was great fun to work with, a great sense of humour and wonderful ad libs. We had the best of times.”
Curtis is survived by his wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis, and six children.
